International Youth Day 2018
There are currently 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world. This is the largest youth population ever. But 1 in 10 of the world’s children live in conflict zones and 24 million of them are out of school. Political instability, labour market challenges and limited space for political and civic participation have led to increasing isolation of youth in societies.
Every year the 12th of August sees the commemoration of International Youth Day (IYD). The theme for International Youth Day 2018 is “Safe Spaces for Youth”. This year Living Green Cameroon is celebrating the International Youth Day at the Kumba Central Football Field (Government Practicing School) South West Region, Cameroon. For the love for the game, over 3500 young people have gathered here today. This event dedicated to the International Youth Day.
We celebrating by organizing a football match between Bocom FC agaainst Faith FC and Mbonge Road FC against Fiango FC dedicated to the International Youth Day 2018, Kick of time 3PM, and 90 minute play time. Players of both teams will be introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to get them engaged and each goal scored will be dedicated to the 17 Development Goals.
