The Goal of the project is help to bring communities together for a common goal: Friendship, Unity, Dialogue, and Reconciliation and for Preventing Violent Extremism. The project gives young people an alternative against Crime, Drug Abuse, and most importantly a pathway toward a Peaceful and Inclusive future for all.
Grassroots Sports for Peace and Development
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development underlines the growing contribution of sports as a tool for peace in its promotion of Tolerance, Diversity and Respect. It also highlights the contributions that sport can make to the empowerment of communities as a whole, to individuals (particularly women and young people) as well as to health, education and social inclusion. More specifically, sports through its, unifying, educational and cultural values help brings communities and people together. Sports offer an important opportunity for building life skills of at-risk youth that allow them to better cope with daily life challenges and move away from involvement in violence, crime or drug use.
Youth as agents of Peace and Development
Working hand in hand with the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Living Green Cameroon conducted regional youth-oriented awareness raising sports initiatives to further promote civic values and disseminate the benefits of sport in promoting peace and unity. As a result young people have been placed at the center of community outreach activities as agents for Peace and Development and by sharing their experiences on how sports and life skills training helped them to stay away from violence and drugs, this way, they inspire other young people to move from the life of violence and drugs to become the change they want to see in the community.
